NOTE
The level at which cultural values, customs and laws have their effect.
The level above the organisation
Most analyses stay at the level of one organisation or one project. A macro system is the level where cultural values, customs and laws take effect; that is, the setting of all smaller systems. I think an analyst who does not see this level sometimes gives a technical solution to a problem whose root is cultural or civilisational.
For now this section is filled with pieces that look from this angle:
- A critique of modernity and a civilisational view of systems: Spengler and The Decline of the West, and the question of whether people exist for civilisation or civilisation for people.
- Without keeping your ideals, selling your location ends in shame: when income decides the ideals; from transit corridors to culture.
- From order to the appearance of order: worn-out institutions and values, and “theatrical order”.
- Grassroots institutions and the decline of the sense of social responsibility: when helping others moves from an individual duty to an institutional one.
